Memory

There are 3600 bytes of memory available for storing images (text, pictures, and animations). The memory necessary to store an image is as follows:

Text Messages

23 Bytes per message.

Note: the message length is limited to 20 characters

Pictures

The memory necessary for a picture is dependent on the size of the picture. Images are stored in memory with a height of 48 (the number of LED’s on the WavyWand™) and ‘x’ number of pixels wide. Use the following equation to determine the total memory usage for a picture:

# of bytes per picture = ( # of pixels high * # of pixels wide) / 6 [bytes / pixel2] = (48 [pixels] * x [pixels]) / 6 [bytes / pixel2]

Animations

As an animation is composed of a series of individual pictures, the memory for an animation is dependent on the number and sizes of each picture in the animation. To determine the total memory usage for an animation, use the following formula:

# of bytes for an animation = 4 bytes + # of frames in the animation * # of bytes per picture
