How do I turn the WavyWand on?
After inserting the batteries, the WavyWand should already be on. If it is not, press the Enter button once and you should see all the LEDs turn on for as long as you press the button. The WavyWand should now be on..
Back to topWhy does the flashlight LEDs dim when I press and hold the Enter button to turn the main display off?
When all the LEDs on the main display are on, they draw significantly more power from the batteries than just the flashlight LEDs would draw. They essentially drain the batteries leaving little to no power for the flashlight.
Back to topWhy do the top three LEDs come on when ever I press a button?
The top three LEDs are linked to three buttons in order to indicate when a button is being pressed.
Back to topHow do I set the WavyWand so that the flashlight is on and the main display is off?
First turn the WavyWand on. Then press and hold the Down button to turn the flashlight on. Now turn the main display off by pressing and holding the Enter key until the entire display lights up. When you release the button the display will turn off and remain off until it is turned back on.
Back to topCan I use any type of batteries in the WavyWand?
Yes, The WavyWand is designed to run on any AAA battery brand. Avoid using different brands of batteries at the same time.
Back to topHow do I know when the batteries need to be replaced?
When the flashlight LEDs starts dimming, it is a sign that the batteries are dying. The main display will still function for a period of time after the flashlight starts dimming but the buttons will become less sensitive.
Back to topMy WavyWand just quit working, can I get it fixed?
We stand behind the quality of our product and if there was a manufacturing problem we will exchange your WavyWand for free. Please email support to get a return authorization code before mailing the WavyWand back.
Back to topIf I enter a long text message into the WavyWand, it doesn’t display correctly. Why is this?
When the WavyWand is waved from side to side, the time from one side to the next is measured. This time is then divided into 0.4 millisecond intervals. Each one of these intervals represents one pixel width. A wider wave will have more intervals and thus more pixels than a shorter wave. If the image or text message is very long, it might have more pixels than can fit into a short wave. Try waving the WavyWand in a bigger wave.
Back to topHow can I take a picture of my WavyWand in action?
Because the picture is never really all there at any given moment, you will have to take the picture over a period of time. To do this you need to set the shutter speed of your camera to roughly the time it take you to wave to WavyWand from one side to the other. For the average person this is about 0.4Seconds.
Back to topHow long will my WavyWand last?
If the WavyWand is not misused, it should last for many years.
Back to topHaving trouble manually programming your WavyWand?
The WavyWand comes pre-programmed with about 15 different pictures, messages and animations (WaveArt). When you turn the WavyWand on, it always defaults to the first image in the list. Simply turn the WavyWand on and wave it from side to side to view the image. To view a different image, push the up arrow button to scroll up through the list or press the down arrow button to scroll down through the list. (Press either of the buttons once and then wave the WavyWand to view the new image.) When scrolling through the list of WaveArt and you reach the top or the bottom of the list, it will automatically loop around to the other end of the list so that you can continue to scroll through the list.
Each one of the images (WaveArt) in the list is either a picture, a text message or an animation. The text messages can be edited directly from the WavyWand while the images and animations can not. To edit a text message, first scroll to the message that you would like to edit. Press and hold the Up and Enter button simultaneously for about 2 to 3 seconds. You should see the following: First the LED next to the M and Delete symbol will turn on, next the entire display will flash and then only the very top LED will stay on. Now release the up and enter buttons. The top led should remain on. If it does not, you tried to enter programming mode on an image or animation. Only text messages can be edited directly from the WavyWand. Scroll to a text message and try again.
Once in programming mode you can move the LED up and down the display by pressing the up or down buttons. To select a character or option press the Enter button. Remember to first delete the current message by selecting the Delete option once for each character in the old message. After entering the new message you can select the font size to save the message and exit programming mode. Again wave the WavyWand and you should see the new message.
E08 – Error Communicating with wand. What to do?
This is usually an indication that communication with the WavyWand was initiated but it got interrupted. There are two possibilities why this could happen. The first reason is movement of the WavyWand during programming. Bumping or moving the WavyWand while it is being programmed could cause the pins in the connector to loose contact with the WavyWand. Just try again and make sure not to move the WavyWand. The second reason is typically dying batteries. Dead or dying batteries causes the WavyWand to miss interpret signals from the computer. Just replace the batteries and try again.
Short list for programming your WavyWand using a computer:
1. Make sure the WavyWand batteries are fully charged
2. Start WandWare program and select the WaveArt to be programmed
3. Make sure the WavyWand is turned on
4. Click on the program Wand button
5. Make sure the WavyWand does not get moved while programming is in progress
Once you are done programming the WavyWand you can pick it up and wave it to see the new images.
